PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - Janoi Brown (Randallstown, Maryland) and Luan Gabriel (Roseau, Dominica) will represent the University of Maryland Eastern Shore track & field team in the finals of the 2019 IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston.
The pair will join Atinuke Shittu (Germantown, Maryland) in competition for the Hawks on Sunday (March 3).
Brown ran time of 47.61 seconds in the men's 400 dash. The time was a personal best for the sophomore, finishing second in his heat and fourth overall.
Gabriel earned two PR's in her races, and advanced in the 200 dash. She earned a time of 24.54 seconds in that event - a personal and indoor best. The effort earned her third place in her heat and ninth overall. Prior to that, she finished the 400 meter in 55.98 seconds.
Also competing for the Hawks were Chisom Onukwugha (New Carrollton, Maryland) and Tamunoibi Dabipi (Salisbury, Maryland). Onukwugha ran the 60 hurdles in 8.59 seconds and Dabipi earned a mark of 15.35 meters. Both efforts fell short of qualifying for the finals.
For Sunday, Shittu will appear in the second flight of the triple jump, with finals set to begin at noon. Brown is in section one of the 400, set to begin at 12:30 p.m. and Gabriel's 200 meter finals starting at 1:20 p.m.. Like Brown, set is positioned in section one.
