PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore will play four games on Friday and Saturday (Aug. 30-31) in the St. Francis Brooklyn Tournament this weekend.
The Hawks will play Central Michigan and Saint Peter's at 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. respectively on Friday. Saturday's games will be against NJIT at 11:30 a.m. and the host St. Francis Brooklyn at 7 p.m. The Shore will face SPU again this season on Sept. 18 and St. Francis Brooklyn on Sept. 20 for a second time.
Eastern Shore will open their season for the second year in a row against Central Michigan. CMU won last year's match 3-1 on Aug. 24, 2018. The Shore also played St. Francis Brooklyn a season ago on Sept. 7 in the Henson's Hawk Invitational. Maryland Eastern Shore swept the match last season.
Senior setter Ivana Blazevic (Zagreb, Croatia) is the team's top returner. She begins her final season with the Hawks 296 assists away from becoming the school's all-time leader in assists as she currently sits at 2,298.
Following this weekend's games, Eastern Shore will head to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Sept. 6-7 for the Lehigh/Lafayette Crossover Tournament.
