Hawks drop midweek game at Towson 8-3

SUMMARY

TOWSON, Md. - The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks fell 8-3 to the Towson Tigers on Wednesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

THE SCORE

Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (2-15, 1-5) - 3

Towson Tigers (7-10, 0-6) - 8

HOW IT HAPPENED 

After two scoreless innings from starting pitcher Elijah Benton, Julian Jimenez powered a solo home run over the right field fence in the third inning to give UMES the lead 1-0. Towson then responded with a six-run bottom of the third, putting the Tigers ahead by five runs.

Trailing 6-1, Bronson Taylor laced a two-RBI single up the middle in the fifth inning to cut the Hawks' deficit to three. Towson answered in the sixth inning with a pair of runs, increasing their lead up to five runs again. Neither team scored in the seventh, eighth, and ninth inning en route to an 8-3 victory for Tigers.

THE NUMBERS

The Hawks scored three runs on six hits and one error while the Tigers tallied eight runs on seven hits and no errors

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a home run, walk, and two runs scored. The senior from Chicago also tallied his first home run of the season

Taylor went 1-for-5, pacing UMES with two RBI

Darrius Brown pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, facing the minimum
