HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
In the top of the first frame, the Tigers tacked on a run to pull ahead. Julian Jimenez then scored for UMES on a wild pitch to tie the game, 1-1, in the bottom of the first inning..Â
From the second inning until the bottom of the sixth inning, Towson recorded 18 unanswered runs.
The Maroon and Grey recorded their most productive inning at the plate in the sixth. Tysen Wilson drove in Christian Azcona on an RBI groundout before an RBI single from Jimenez and a two-RBI double from Elijah Negron, making the score 19-5.
Each team was held scoreless in the seventh inning, cementing a 14-run victory for the visiting Tigers.
THE NUMBERS
The Hawks totaled five runs on nine hits and two errors while the Tigers amassed 19 runs on 18 hits and no errors
Janluis Santiago tied his season high for strikeouts, fanning four in a team-high 2.2 scoreless innings pitched.
Jimenez went 4-for-4 at the plate, totaling a season-high four hits and an RBI.
Negron and Joshua Caldwell each went 2-for-3 at the plate
Wilson and Fernando Ferrer Jr. each made their collegiate debut in this game. Wilson recorded his first career RBI
