HOW IT HAPPENED

In the top of the first frame, the Sharks took the lead, 2-0, on back-to-back RBI singles. Starting pitcher Esteban Torres then settled in, pitching back-to-back shut out innings, keeping the Hawks within two.

LIU capitalized on two Hawks errors in the fourth inning, plating three unearned runs in the frame. Trailing 5-0, Torres, Justin Spencer, and Darrius Brown then teamed up to each throw a scoreless fifth, sixth, and seventh inning, providing an opportunity for Julian Jimenez to close the gap with a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh.

Leading 5-2, LIU built an insurmountable lead with an eight-run eighth inning. The Sharks then finished the game with a scoreless eighth inning to clinch a 13-2 win.
