DOVER, Del. - The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks edged out the Delaware State Hornets, 7-5, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Bob Reed Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second time in the series, Julian Jimenez ripped a leadoff homer in the first at bat of the game to give UMES the lead for good. Bronson Taylor then followed up with a two-run shot over the right field fence to put the Hawks ahead, 3-0, in the first.
After four scoreless innings from Cade Williams on the mound, the Maroon and Grey resumed scoring in the fifth when Diego Aponte laced a two-RBI single followed by a Diego Guerrero RBI single to give the Hawks a six-run advantage.
Trailing 6-0, the Hornets outscored the Hawks 5-0 from the bottom of the fifth inning until the bottom of the eighth inning to get within one run.
Leading 6-5, Jonathan Gonzalez Perez added an insurance run with a home run in the ninth to double the Hawks' advantage before Janluis Santiago pitched a scoreless ninth to both earn the save in the 7-5 win and clinch the series win for the Hawks.

The Hawks recorded seven runs on 15 hits and one error while the Hornets scored five runs on 12 hits and two errors
Williams recorded his UMES career-high six strikeouts while tying his UMES career-high with six innings pitched. The Hawks have won four out of the seven games in which Cade has started this season
