TinYan Liu paces UMES efforts in first tournament of the fall


HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania - In the first fall tournament of the season, sophomore TinYan Liu proved to be the low scorer for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's golf lineup during Monday's Youngstown State Roseann Schwartz Invitational.


Playing on the Avalon Course at Buhl Park, Liu finished with rounds of 77 and 81 for a total score of 158. Sophomore teammate Pearl Omaruaye shot rounds of 78 and 82 for a tournament total of 160. Bushra Fatima recorded rounds of 78 and 84 for a total of 162. Alysa Davis and Sydney Raines both finished the tournament with total stroke counts of 169 while Charlene Pak had a two-round total of 170.


As a team, UMES shot rounds of 314 and 333 for an eleventh place score of 647.


Ohio State University won the event with a team score of 572.


UMES will be back in competition at the William and Mary Tribe Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Williamsburg, Virginia.
