HAWKS WIN THEIR FINAL HOME MATCH OF THE SEASON

Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (21-9, 7-1 MEAC) volleyball team won their final home match for the season against South Carolina State University in three straight games with scores 30-15, 30-16 and 30-25.

Mamie Lewis led UMES with 12 kills and three digs. Jana Milin notched 11 kills and six digs while Chrissy Jacobs had 10 kills and five digs. "The ladies had an enthusiastic crowd tonight to end an great home season," said coach Toby Rens. "I really want to thank the students and fans who supported us all year long, it was great, we will represent the campus well in our remaining road matches and in the MEAC Tournament," he added.

Senior Sarah Whitfield was honored tonight for her last match at home. Sarah has been a member of the team for four years and a part of a 20 match-winning season twice in her career. Coach Rens gave her roses tonight in a ceremony before the match in Tawes Gymnasium.

The Hawks will be traveling next week to Hampton, VA on November 3 in their next to last MEAC match of the year; the Hawks lead the series this season two matches to none. They will be in Baltimore to battle Morgan State University on November 6.
