TENNIS RELEASE 2015 SPRING SCHEDULE

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) men's & women's tennis programs released their upcoming 2015 spring schedule, the announcement came today. Both squads will host several matches at the Hawks Tennis Complex while taking on tough competition on the road.

In February (02/08), the ladies open the season in Salisbury, Md. as they will travel on rt. 13 to face Salisbury and Towson. Last season, the Seagulls finished 12-8 (4-2 CAC) on the season and reached the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship match. Towson ended their 2014 campaign 11-10 overall.

Nearly two weeks later (02/20), both clubs head south to Greensboro, N.C. to take on North Carolina A&T (NCAT). The match will be the men's season opener.

The next day (02/21), the teams travel to Durham, N.C. to meet North Carolina Central (NCCU). A year ago, the Eagles finished 9-11 (0-2 MEAC) and won their final three matches of the season.

On February 22, the women remain in Durham as they take on Savannah State in a neutral site bout.

Five days later (02/27), the squads continue their road trip in Hampton, Va. where the Pirates of Hampton University awaits. Last season, both teams reached the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament.

The following day (02/28), the teams will stay in the Tidewater area and heads to Norfolk, Va. to meet Virginia Wesleyan.

A week later (03/05), the Hawks host their home-opener against non-conference opponent Temple. The Owls are one of two non-conference opponents the Hawks will face at home this season.

Two days later (03/07), both teams will host Penn State-Abington. A year ago, the both clubs finished 10-6 overall, respectively.

Over two weeks later (03/21), the teams head to our Nation's Capital, Washington, D.C., to take on Howard and Mount St. Mary's. Last season, the Bison reached the conference tournament while the Mount made the Northeast Conference (NEC) Quarterfinals.

On March 27, Maryland Eastern Shore goes to Baltimore to face Coppin State and Norfolk State. The Spartans' and Eagles' men teams earned a spot in the MEAC Tournament.

The next day (03/28), the clubs will stay in Baltimore to meet Loyola (Md.). Both Greyhound teams combined for an 18-14-1 overall record a year ago.

On March 29, the teams return home to host in-state rival Morgan State. This will be the men's final home match of the 2015 season.

A week later (04/05), the Lady Hawks meet rt. 13 rival Delaware State in Princess Anne for their final home match of the season.

Three days later (04/08), the clubs head north to the Big Apple, New York City, to take on St. Francis. The next day (04/09), UMES will stay in New York to face Wagner.

On April 10, the Lady Hawks end their regular-season on the road against Bowie State. Last season, the Bulldogs reached the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Quarterfinals.

A couple days later (04/12), the men's squad wraps up their regular-season against Salisbury. A year ago, the Seagulls went 13-5 (4-2 CAC) on the season, including a 5-2 home record.

In less than a week (04/16-04/18), the MEAC will host the conference championships in Cayce, S.C. The top four teams from both divisions qualify for the tournament. The winner receives an automatic bid into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament for a chance at a National Title.
