EVENT PREVIEW

This marks the seventh consecutive season that the Hawks have competed in the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, dating back to 2009. Last season, Maryland Eastern Shore finished ninth overall. Blanco is the only player to return as he shot a 251 (+35) in three rounds of play a year ago.

All season long, Blanco and Mitchell have led the way as they are the lone Hawks to compete in all eight tournaments this season. In 17 rounds, Blanco is shooting under 79 (+7) on the year. Mitchell tied his personal best at the MEAC Championship where he recorded a 79 (+7) in the first round.

Cooper and first-year golfer Bryce Young (Stevensville, Md.) will join Blanco and Mitchell at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championships.

In this event, more than 230 student-athletes will represent 50 schools. MEAC rival Bethune-Cookman is aiming to extend its recorded as they look to win their third consecutive title and seventh overall.

The 54-hole stroke-play Championship consists of four divisions: NCAA Men's Division I, Men's Division II, Men's NAIA and Women's division teams. In addition, there is an Individual Invitational competition for minority Men & Women contestants. The Individual Invitational is open to students who are listed on the roster of their college golf team or part of The PGA of America's PGA Golf Management programs and in one of the ethnic origins listed: African-American, Hispanic-American, Native or Alaskan American, Asian or Pacific Island America.
