Baltimore, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Volleyball Team (23-9, 8-1) won a tough match Thursday in five games against the Morgan State University Lady Bears (12-17, 5-3) to extend their match winning streak to five straight. The Hawks defeated the Lady Bears by scores of 25-30, 30-27, 21-30, 30-18 and 7-15.
UMES was led by Jana Milin, who pounded out 23 kills in the victory. Her teammates Aja Smith and Chrissy Jacobs also played a big part in the win. Smith had a 15 kill performance, and Jacobs had 13 kills for the match.
"I'm proud of the ladies tonight," said Coach Toby Rens. "They really dug down deep and worked hard to get the win in a tough environment," he added.
The Lady Bears were led by Tiffany Oliver and Tasha Neal, who each had 16 kills for the night. Oliver also added 7 blocks.
The Hawk ladies will continue to play on the road this weekend. They challenge Norfolk State University on November 7 at 6:00 p.m.
