Pickard was a four-sport athlete who is most known for his play on the baseball diamond as a shortstop who batted .350 his senior year with three home runs, 28 RBIs, a .525 slugging percentage, three home runs 42 hits and eight doubles. As a junior, he hit .314 with eight doubles, four triples, 37 hits and 12 RBIs. As a sophomore, he hit .318 with 47 hits, seven doubles, six triples and 20 RBI. In addition to being a .327 hitter, he also once recorded the longest javelin throw in school history at 58 meters (since broken), and is credited with hitting the longest home run in school history (495 feet) while earning First-Team All-MEAC honors in 2002, Second-Team honors in 2001 and Honorable Mention in 2000.

He was the 2002 Maryland Eastern Shore Male Athlete of the Year and baseball MVP in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Signed with the Cook County Cheetahs (Illinois) in the spring of 2003 but wound up playing just a season before returning back to the Shore to get his Master's at Salisbury. Coached Friendly High School baseball and went 13-2 in 2008, earned Gazette Star All-County Coach of the Year. He was the head coach of the Prince George's Valor (ABA) from 2016 to 2019. He is currently the head basketball coach for Prince George's Community College, where he has been since 2018 as well as the head coach of the Baltimore Hawks (ABA) — a post he has held since 2019.
