Donnell Boney, a 2014 UMES Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, played guard for the UMES Men's Basketball Team from 1982-1986
As a freshman, Boney started his UMES career strong, amassing 10.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in the 1982-1983 season. Boney also excelled at the charity stripe, knocking down 80% of his free throw attempts.
Boney carried that momentum in the 1983-1984 season as a sophomore, averaging 14.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game to lead the team.
In the 1984-1985 season, Boney shined with a career high 18.4 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per contest. He also paced the MEAC in passing during the 1984-1985 campaign with a league-high 131 assists.
Boney closed out his college career with a strong 1985-1986 season. As a Senior, he recorded his 4th straight season with a double-digit scoring average with 15 points per game.
Boney graduated from UMES in 1986 and finished his Hawk basketball career as a three-time All MEAC selection.
