Henry “Hank” Ford was a 1984 inductee into the UMES Hall of Fame.

Ford joined the Hawk Men’s Basketball program in 1966. He was teammates with his brother and fellow Hall of Famer Jake. Wearing number 35, Ford was known for his defense and rebounding.

After earning his degrees in physical education and biology in 1969, Ford stayed around the game of basketball through coaching. Ford went on to win 2 CIAA championships as a coach at Hampton University from 1975-1987. With 228 career wins, Ford was the winningest coach in Hampton Pirates history at the end of his stint.

Following his coaching career, Ford went on to spend 13 years as an athletic director for Alfred University, Howard, and Savannah State.
